Due to its shared nature, this accommodation is available exclusively for women. It is decorated in the traditional and authentic Canarian style. For us, the CANARIAS APARTMENT symbolizes the importance of tradition — not only our own, but that of all cultures. Tradition gives us a sense of identity and a connection to the past. It reminds us that we are part of something greater, and that we are not mere specks of dust adrift in the winds of time.
To preserve the valuable legacy of Yoga, it is essential to respect tradition, strive to deeply understand the discipline, and refrain from making changes until the purpose of each gesture and movement is fully comprehended. Every yogi must learn to honor what is called prajna, or “wisdom painstakingly extracted from chaos.” This means recognizing, in each class, the value of the knowledge transmitted through generations via the Yoga lineage: teacher, disciple, instructor, student.
In Sanskrit, the term smriti means both tradition and memory, which is very poetic, as it suggests that the opposite of tradition is not novelty — which can eventually become a new tradition — but forgetting. In yoga class, we must appreciate what is being taught, be aware that it is ancient knowledge, and commit to not forgetting it.

They have been honed generation upon generation of people living in the same land, under the same sky.
How to get food, how to cook it, how to take refuge from the cold, heat or other animals... traditional knowledge has always been vital for the survival of our species and although it is less obvious today, it is still important, especially in the practice of yoga.
